Chancellor's Circle
SMCCC Foundation Holds Successful Chancellor’s Circle Event
On Wednesday, October 30th, the SMCCC Foundation held its first major event since the new Executive Director, Megan Barber Allende, joined this past summer. Over 70 guests gathered in the Skyline Farallon Room, including Foundation board members, District trustees, donors, elected officials, and college/district administrators, to hear from a trio of prominent female community leaders, including District Chancellor Melissa Moreno.
Nicole Taylor, President and CEO of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, shared opening remarks before introducing Chancellor Moreno to the audience. Chancellor Moreno shared her professional background in law and real estate, her experience as a small business owner, and how she transitioned into teaching part-time at Santa Barbara Community College. From there, she shared her trajectory from adjunct faculty to community college administrator and her vision for forging new collaborations that empower our students and strengthen the local workforce. The event concluded with Rosanne Foust, President and CEO of the San Mateo County Economic Development Association (SAMCEDA), moderating audience questions for Chancellor Moreno.
