SMCCC Foundation Update on COVID-19, March 18, 2020

Dear Foundation Friends,

As a member of the San Mateo County Community Colleges Foundation and the District community, the Foundation team would like you to know that we are here for you and our community. The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been an unprecedented experience for all of us, we are optimistic that our community will successfully navigate these uncertain times.

Like you, our understanding of COVID-19’s continues to impact our daily lives. The SMCCC Foundation and District’s administration and public health officials have worked around the clock to make decisions that protect the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff, while maintaining our commitment to our mission, our students, and our donors.

The entire Foundation Board and staff want to assure you that we are still working to help our students-in-need receive the support they require to reach their educational goals. As Foundation staff will not be on campus, we will thank all of our donors for their generosity via email until the District and the colleges reopen.

The entirety of the SMCCC District’s faculty and staff also continue to be dedicated to the District’s “Students First” vision during this time, and will be working remotely until the county and/or state mandates are lifted. Faculty and staff are learning new ways in which to serve and keep the colleges running while protecting themselves, their families, and the community. In addition, following current CDC recommendations, many of our Foundation and campus events have been postponed or cancelled to ensure everyone’s safety.

We will continue to keep you updated as new information becomes available. While this email’s sole purpose is to share the Foundation’s status during this time, should you wish to support our students during this time, please visit the Foundation’s emergency fund page.

For more information about the SMCCC District’s general alerts and latest updates, please check the District’s COVID-19 resource page.

In this time of concern and confusion, we hope you will take steps to protect yourself and your loved ones. Your care for yourself and others helps the broader community as we work through this time of trial. We look forward to keeping you updated over the coming weeks and welcome, as always, your engagement and outreach. Please do not hesitate to contact Tykia Warden (wardent@smccd.edu | 650.358.6860) directly for any reason - the Foundation is here to serve you, our students, our colleges, and the District.

Best wishes for good health and continued resilience.
