Charitable Gift Annuities

A Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) allows you to support the San Mateo County Community Colleges Foundation while securing fixed income payments for life. It’s a meaningful way to align your philanthropic goals with financial stability—and receive valuable tax benefits.

Benefits

  • Guaranteed fixed payments for life (to you or a designated annuitant)
  • Charitable income tax deduction for the gift portion
  • Payments may be partially tax-free
  • Support SMCCC Foundation’s mission while planning for your future

How It Works

  1. You contribute cash or appreciated securities (minimum: $10,000)
  2. SMCCCF provides lifetime fixed payments based on your age
  3. You receive a charitable deduction and potential tax-free income
  4. You enjoy peace of mind knowing your gift supports student success

Note: SMCCC Foundation does not accept real estate as collateral for CGAs.

Types of Gift Annuities

  • Current CGA: Payments begin within one year of your gift
  • Deferred CGA: Payments begin at a future date you choose—often resulting in higher annual income

Minimum age to establish a CGA: 60
